Astrid HighLite Eco — a quieter upgrade to our highbay range
Why a new variant
The Astrid HighLite range has been our standard highbay specification for industrial roofs for years. Customers have asked for one specific change repeatedly: a variant that produces equivalent floor-level lux at a wider beam, so the same scheme can be delivered with fewer fittings on suspended pendant ceilings.
The Astrid HighLite Eco is the answer. It's not a redesign of HighLite — it's a wider-optic, slightly higher-efficacy sibling that slots into the same chassis range alongside HighLite, HighLite XL, and HighLite HP.
What changed
Three things, all incremental:
- Wider primary optic. HighLite Eco uses a 110° optic where standard HighLite uses 90°. Practical effect: typical 8-metre-suspension highbay schemes drop from 9 to 7 fittings per 200m² of floor area while maintaining 200 lux uniformity to BS EN 12464.
- Higher-efficacy LED engine. 175 lm/W in production versus 158 lm/W on the standard HighLite. Same warranty, same drivers, same LedLite PCB platform.
- Improved DALI dimming response curve. A small change but one specifiers asked for: smoother low-end behaviour for night-shift environments and 24-hour distribution facilities.
Things that did not change: chassis, finish options, mounting hardware, IP rating, ambient temperature range, or warranty. If you've specified Astrid HighLite before, your specification document needs minimal edits.
Where to use it
HighLite Eco is the right call when:
- You're specifying highbays at 6–10 metre suspension heights
- The floor below has continuous activity (warehousing, distribution, light manufacturing)
- Glare control is important — wide optics produce less perceived glare at workstations than narrow optics aimed at the same lux target
- You're trying to reduce fixture count for cost, ceiling clutter, or maintenance reasons
HighLite (standard) is still the right answer for roofs above 10 metres, narrow aisle layouts, or applications where you need the original 90° beam pattern for vertical illuminance on stacked goods.
What to do next
IES files for HighLite Eco are available now — request from our sales team. Stock is available for delivery. If you have an open scheme using standard HighLite where the count is uncomfortable, we can issue a same-day comparative calculation. For larger projects we offer a no-cost site survey across the Northwest and a paid site survey nationally.
